چکیده

The ATM Forum has chosen the rate-based approach for ow control of ABR (Available Bit Rate) traac in ATM. It is based on a reactive approach whereby the transmission rate of ABR sources can be adapted to the available bandwidth at a bottleneck link. The ATM forum has speciied the behavior of the source and destination, as well as the manner in which feedback information (on the available bandwidth and on the congestion state of the network) should be conveyed back to the source. The decision on the precise control mechanism, however, has been left to the designer of the switches. We propose in this paper a reactive control scheme that is based only on information on the available bandwidth. We analyze its stability, and then test its performance by simulations in the presence of other higher priority CBR or VBR traac.

Using a Fuzzy Rule-based Algorithm to Improve Routing in MPLS Networks

Today, the use of wireless and intelligent networks are widely used in many fields such as information technology and networking. There are several types of these networks that MPLS networks are one of these types. However, in MPLS networks there are issues and problems in the design and implementation discussion, for example security, throughput, losses, power consumption and so on. Basically,...

End–to–End Flow Control Algorithms for High Speed Data Transmission over ATM

This paper compares three different methods for controlling data flow over high speed wide area networks. It presents a novel mechanism that measures the exact receiver capabilities in order to improve the rate based flow control algorithm. Unlike standard protocols like TCP/IP with their credit based flow control, the new protocol DSTP uses this special rate based scheme. With additional optim...

FLORAX- Flow-Rate Based Hop by Hop Backpressure Control for IEEE 802

The standard IEEE 802.3x is introduced to manage XON/XOFF flow control mechanism in full duplex gigabit Ethernet. In a IEEE 802.3x network, a downstream station can send XOFF messages to upstream stations to stop them from sending data until a specified time slot has passed or the downstream station receives a XON message. The development of efficient XON/XOFF flow control mechanism is still an...

WHITE - Achieving Fair Bandwidth Allocation with Priority

Current congestion control approaches that attempt to provide fair bandwidth allocation among competing flows primarily consider only data rate when making decisions on which packets to drop. However, responsive flows with high round trip times (RTTs) can still receive significantly less bandwidth than responsive flows with low round trip times. This paper proposes a congestion control scheme c...

Integrated Control of Connection Admission, Flow Rate, and Bandwidth for ATM based Networks: a comparative evaluation

The combined control problem of connection admission, flow rate, and bandwidth allocation (capacity, service-rate) in ATM based networks under nonstationary conditions has recently attained considerable importance. In an earlier paper we adopted a nonlinear control approach to derive an integrated control strategy (for the finite buffer and finite server case) that is insensitive to any propaga...
